Miles Platting

Building homes for the Greater Manchester community

Two successful contracts on the Miles Platting Regeneration PFI project for Lovell Strategic Partnerships.

Working on the new build social housing element of this regeneration scheme, this project involved working on 11 houses simultaneously across 4 sites. Initially completing all ground, sub-structure (site clearance, main utilities and diversions, drainage and foundations, beam & block ground floors) and external works (paving, fencing, brickwork walls and tarmac) the contract was extended to include the Super-structure brick and blockwork.

A landmark job for Urbanise, directly employing 28 bricklayers and a dedicated brickwork construction manager, it also saw us working for a main contractor and not directly for the client. The overall regeneration project, including the 11 new build houses, saw £250m invested in Miles Platting and was the catalyst for several more projects and developments that has now created Platting Village.

“Urbanise were very proactive and constructive in terms of the design and deliverability of the initial package. They efficaciously delivered all the groundworks and substructures for the Reprovision new-build housing.

With the success of this, it was evident that the rest of the superstructure of this Reprovision scheme should be negotiated with Urbanise.  I would have no hesitation in recommending Urbanise to other clients for future projects and would also recommend that the sooner they are involved, the better the results are likely to be.”
